Special Events in the Vtuber Space – Black Vtuber Style
Hello! We’re back and Black and here to shine a light on all the special events happening for Black History Month in the Vtubing sphere.
But moreover, what is Black History Month. Let’s get into it.
What is Black History Month?
Black History Month is an annually observed commemorative month originating in the United States
It began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora, initially lasting a week before becoming a month-long observation since 1970. It is celebrated in February in the United States and Canada, where it has received official recognition from governments, and more recently has also been celebrated in Ireland and the United Kingdom where it is observed in October.

Black History Month is a time where Black folks celebrate together the achievements of those who came before and those who are currently doing now. Like for example, Marsha P. Johnson, the Black Trans Woman who played a very significant role in the Stonewall Riot for Civil Rights of 1969. Civil Rights that are kind of under attack right now and you guys should probably worry about that….
But here are some lovely Black Vtubers that are doing something special for Black History Month.
Malakai Lazuli – Malakai is a Gem Vtuber, very popular and beloved for good reasons. Pronouns are He/Him. He’s kind, firm in his stances and very funny and charismatic. He’s currently doing two events. The first is the new segment of his called Behind the Shine, where he brings 1 or 2 Vtubers on as guests for an interview style talk show. It’s very insightful, and can be genuinely hilarious, as he brought on two powerhouses in the Vtubing Sphere, Ciri_VT and Kishin Shinobi. The show also has a segment called “What’s going on there”, where a random clip is played and the context uh… Gotta be explained. The first and second Episodes are out on his Twitch, so I encourage you all to go watch.
The other special event Kai is conducting is an event within the talk show called “Special Artist of the Week”, where he showcases an artist. The first person was FizzyQPop, his mod and a Vtuber in their own right. So, if you’d like to check them out, please go do so! Their Pronouns are They/Them so please respect that! The talk show airs again for episode three (3) on Friday 8:00 PM EST on Malakai’s Twitch. So, make sure to follow and keep an eye out!
2. Kishin Shinobi – Kishin is a Soul Eater/Shinobi Vtuber, taking inspiration from both Soul Eater and Naruto (Both Excellent Animes, so I might be a little biased). Another popular Vtuber and for good reason! His streams are very entertaining, with unique content, such as his “Wuss Wednesdays” segment on Twitch, where he plays a Horror game. He’s currently highlighting different Black Vtubers for the Month of February on Both Twitter(X) and Bluesky. So, you should absolutely follow him and the Vtubers he’s highlighting. And as mentioned above, he was apart Malakai’s Talk show on Twitch, with a very Funny Clip caught in 4k.
3. Gemini – Gemini is an Alien Vtuber from the Gemini Constellation, who got stuck on Earth. Pronouns She/Her. She’s also doing a Vtuber a Day on BlueSky, where she gives a brief description of a lovely Vtuber in the space. She also does some interesting YouTube Videos so please be sure to check her out and subscribe!
4. Charged up Static – Static is doing something new and different. His BHM posts of the day are all about highlighting Black Characters in Media whether it’s a cartoon, game, etc. And I think that’s pretty neat. It’s a different medium and shows a wide variety of black characters in different forms of media. He also streams over on Twitch, so please make sure you support!
It’s really lovely seeing different Vtubers doing something cool during this month. I hope I can see it more out of February too. Bipoc Vtubers deserve to feel like they’re apart of the scene too. To feel like they are just as visible as their white counterparts.
